Nejat Akdag, founder of Profil Canada, is a Certified International Trade Professional with decades of first–hand experience in global trade across more than 30 countries.
He began his career at a Turkish trading house, gaining deep experience in logistics, documentation, finance, and cross-border transactions. He later worked for major trading companies, such as Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Japan.
He went on to establish his international trade firm, Profil Metal, which handled complex supply chains and high-volume transactions globally in the Steel products sector.
Since relocating to Canada in 2013, Mr. Akdag has evolved from a trading professional into a strategic business development leader. He founded Profil Canada and successfully represented Erdemir — Turkey’s largest steel manufacturer — in the Canadian market, securing significant sales volumes with the country’s leading steel service centers.
He then led a three-year “Slab Supply Project” between CSP, a Brazilian-Korean joint venture Steel plant in Brazil (later acquired by ArcelorMittal), and Algoma Steel in Canada, on behalf of POSCO America, managing complex cross–cultural negotiations and overseeing the multi–stakeholder execution.
His recent work includes successfully supporting the market entry of Norm Fasteners US in the Canadian market, qualifying for Project Arrow 2.0, Canada’s flagship autonomous electric vehicle (EV) initiative, as well as supplying components to Canadian Tier 1 automotive parts suppliers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
